recently dove back into ncity and read way too many Opinions on each unit and I have technically stated my piece on it but now I have even MORE thoughts. lets see if i can organize them

127 vs dream “prioritization”

- ahhh the source of many, many unit wars. as a haechan fan first & foremost, this literally does not matter to me because it doesn’t affect haechan THAT much but. i have thoughts on this
- I think it’s funny that people try to deny sm prefers 127 over dream and prioritizes them because it is so TRUE. like it’s blatant. but now it is shifting to dream, which we will get to in a moment
- I also think it’s kind of funny that dreamzens get mad thinking about how sm never prioritized dream circa 2016-2019 because genuinely why would they. dream was never meant to be FIXED like why would they invest so much in group dynamics that are supposed to change every few years. sm tried real hard to rip of akb48 etc but couldn’t commit to the bit. they should’ve added a member in 2017/2018 if they didn’t want fans fixated on 7dream
- back to the topic of sm not giving a fuck about dream. the way I think of it, it’s like they have this vision of dream being training wheels for the members before they go off and do better things. mark & haechan’s better things is 127. their plan was always 127 as the main unit.
- when nobody got added in 2019 to dream you know sm fucked up.
- anyways why they continued to prioritize 127>dream esp in regards to markhyuck is obviously because sm already had plans for 127 up until the enlistments comes up. it’s coming soon and 127 will have to enlist one after the other for YEARS. like it’ll be a decade before they’ll be a complete group again after taeil starts enlisting
- whereas dream’s enlistment is years away. YEAARS! they have so much time before this has to happen
- so why prioritize dream over 127 when 127’s golden days will fade soon and no longer be profitable? like even if dream gets the same treatment 127 got now, it would totally be a loss of profit if they just let 127 do nothing lol. tldr 127 gets priority now because their best days are ending soon and sm is saving dream for the post-127 era

because of tds2 i’ve been thinking a lot about nct and the evolution i’ve had with them for these past 2+ years… it is literally crazy. i do believe that fixating on them in 2020 really saved my sanity lol like i really do not know if i would’ve survived the early pandemic + pressures of hs + pressures of uni without some sort of attachment to nct, which is like kind of unhealthy & crazy. i remember being actually anxious about “””drama””” when it’s like ??? it doesn’t even concern me like these men do NOT Know me. anyways. i knew i would sort of grow out of them like i always grow out of my fandoms but they will always hve impacted me deeply.

one insane, crazy thing is that i’m still pretty consistent with my attachment of haechan??? like i was just paying attention to tds2 clips because of him but then i got sucked into 7dreamisms (it’s VERY easy to do so at the level of emotional manipulation that was being reached in tds2) but the fact that he still has this hold on me is unreal. like ?37:$/!:’ damn the parasocial relationship got to you 😭😭😭 i feel like i’ve cooled off with my other biases + my rpf/shipping side of things but haechan WILL continue to draw me in wtfff. it’s so corny but i do love him so much and at one point i genuinely feel like he was the source of my external motivation even though he literally does not know me and never will. how can he impact me so much like it is actually crazy. that’s it

what the fuck is system data and why did it suddenly cost me like 20gb? was scrolling through tiktok and i got the notif that my storage was full and i kept waiting for it to go down because i thought it was a JOKE. and i only have 64gb so you can imagine my pain. i actually spent like 2 days trying to make my storage go down by deleting pictures. SO many pictures? and all for nothing🫤

not to mention, i also deleted safari history, data, etc and not marking fics to read later or bookmarking anything has finally come to bite me in the ass! i guess i’ll just never read that 200k hockey rpf. maybe the universe was saving me. but there were also so many unread nct fics!

speaking of nct, i truly do feel like i got on dreamwidth too late because now i can feel myself be Normal about them. normal is relative, of course, but i’m not obsessed with them anymore and i haven’t even watched all those 7llin in the youth vids (who ARE you?) i used to have so many opinions and ships and tinhats but alas. now i simply daydream about ryujin & haechan as ice dancers.

i still have some ~assignments~ for uni that i have to finish but they all took a backseat as i freaked the fuck out about my storage. if anyone happens to read this, i’d be grateful for any suggestions regarding the system data thing btw! i tried restarting and clearing cache, doesn’t work 😭

anyways maybe the universe decided i need to stop reading fics and read my actual books. let’s get on that!

now remember when i said i read one hockey rpf fic which lead to the mh + s/l au verse that i’m constantly thinking about in my head? yeah okay so i have SPIRALED.

i guess that one fic was not? enough? and now i’ve been reading hockey rpf for a week straight and it’s killing my brain. I’M SAYING THIS ON DW BECAUSE I NEED TO CLEANSE MYSELF AND #confess. i tried to tell my best friend that i’m going insane, losing my mind, etc etc but she brushed me off she was like ok so you read hockey rpf??? we read one direction fics growing up what’s the difference???

the difference is that i absolutely refuse to google any of these hockey players cause i just know they are not pretty. it’s killing me. with kpop rpf i will always be assured of pretty visuals but hockey is literally just white men. HOW ARE THESE WRITERS SO GOOOODD AND THEIR MUSE ARE WHITE MALE ATHLETES? are you crazy? also i just know some of them are dickbags. like that’s just the perils of rpf in general but. YOU GET IT RIGHT???

ok i lied because i did google one player and he did turn out to be somewhat attractive and so i have decided to stop it there because then i’ll just be disappointed if i google more. it’s jack hughes btw. the crazy thing is that he’s 01 line which is? crazy 2 me??? one genuine draw of kpop (haechan) was that the idols were in my age range so like knowing this random hockey dude is also in my age group is making me crazy.

okay so maybe i get the draw bc the inherent homoeroticism of team sports (yes, i have read the foxhole court). but also like i guess these hockey players are so bland and nobody cares about them anyways that it’s great to write fics about??? also like the rivals narratives??? very good.

with that said. my favorite pairing is matthew tkachuk/leon draisaitl because the rival narrative is what GETS me and i’ve scrapped the tags at this point and i still don’t know what they look like. in my head they’re hot please no one ruin this fantasy for me ❤️

i think i also just genuinely enjoy “”canon”” rpf fics?? also future fics! i love love love reading disbandment fics/post enlistment fics/“x leaves the company while y stays” fics. i guess this translates well into hockey rpfs with their abundance of post retirement fics etc etc. nothing like speculating about the future! except for hockey rpf i don’t know the ~lore~ but the writing is so good that it doesn’t even matter anyways.

background : i joined the fandom during kick it but only got on ncity twitter during reload era and left the general fandom space during resonance part 2 era. so perhaps these are my outdated opinions…since then i’ve been simply lurking on priv happily.

FIRST OF ALL. this is all because dreamzens suck. like 127zens sucks too but in a different way. dreamzens are very unbearable and they are haters but not in the fun way 🙄 but the thing is dream overrides this by all being lovely and talented and sexy and fun (am person who is into the emotional manipulation). 127zens act like 127 is more than they are but 127 shall never reach dream levels of knowing each other and they sure are fun but they’re COWORKERSSS. it’s all lost in the soup because 127 (most of them) have known each other for so long. so they are Aware of each other.

second. it’s because sunflowers are insane. 127sunflowers and dreamsunflowers.

i’m rambilng the main point is i wanna state MY piece. can’t all of you be dreamzens who like 127. this is the ideal state of being for me. since, musically, got into nct through 127 music i simply cannot help but be <3__<3 to 127 a lot of the times. you can’t blame me since the first release dream did after i got into them was fucking reload. so yes 127 > dream in terms of music. but in everything else, DREAM IS SIMPLY THE BEST <3

i must also mention i am as old as a dream member so like the same ageisms of it all is important.

idgaf abt wayv unless it involves member i care about (great example! > 90’s love unit. love wintenyang top 3 wayv members). also if the pets are involved. like if you stan xiaojun seriously & genuinely then you have cognitive dissonance or smth but if you’re smart like me you think he’s a poor meow meow & hilarious and love the bella pics. dream r everything to me but 127 i care you except when i don’t which is when my 127faves (haechan, jaehyun, taeyong) are irrelevant. like it’s weird if you care too much about 127dynamics. what are these dynamics compared to dream. 127 has the most kpop group bond of all the units. the bond in which they are men who live together & work together.

also reason for my 127 soft spot : haechan. can’t help the fact that he’s my talented, pretty, sociable baby. he likes being maknae (but also likes being hyung way more. he simply likes the special privileges of being Baby without being the Ultimate Baby). they like him so much but ofc they do 💘💘💘

to put it simply I DO NOT UNDERSTAND how you can simply just acknowledge haechan in just one unit no he needs to be acknowledged all the time he is an attention whore like that!!! and sometimes u have to perceive other 127 members but i simply choose to do that with my picks.

feelings on 127 members (am kind of a hater)

- taeil : ambivalent. he is barely an idol to me. goes and does his job. clocks out when he’s done. in another life probably like a ballad singer no. at least he is talented and can sing like we love that for you taeil
- johnny : i dont see what you see in him for people to ult him. but i guess. you might as well stan a hollywood celebrity because like being american is his draw. but good filler member 👍🏼 has never unnecessarily pissed me off too bad. plus points : likes haechan.
- taeyong 💖 : my perfect idol. he is serving face and hardwork. i still do not care about kpop rapping so like he’s whatever in that sense but he is the perfect perfect CENTER like yes this is what kpop is all about. might genuinely be a nice person.
- yuta : never got over his misogynist allegations. relies on ships for his popularity outside of japan (sorry winwin and mark). still hilarious that he was in the from home unit like everyone simply knows it’s cause they wanted to have japanese lyrics and they couldn’t possibly use shotaro. go dude give us nothing.
- doyoung : he’s good. his voice is nice too. dance is whatever but dance isn’t his position so it’s a pass. feels like he could give everything up and just become an actor in the way that people would think jaehyun would. but likes singing too much.
- jaehyun : has no emotions since sm made him drop his maknae image (sorry jaehyun 😔). like genuinely fizzled out when winwin left. even worse after covid97. AND I STILL LIKE HIM! his face : classically handsome. his voice : SO NICE. clocks in and clocks out like taeil except still has a shred of idolsona. also he’s so handsome that he gets a pass.
- winwin : including him because fuck you that’s why. i have no strong feelings on winwin on wayv or 127 but i DO for sure know 127>wayv which is why i’m grouping this as such. very sorry to say that he can’t sing. he has good one liners and it should stay that way. needs more screen time. his face is of an angel. needs an acting gig soon because if he doesn’t his fans will advocate for more lines in songs. he’s lovely 💘
- jungwoo : it’s whatever to mee. he gets shoved down my throat so much. with like yuta/john/winwin it’s obvious they’re sort of filler members that has their own respective charms that supposedly contribute to the group. but with jw it’s like they don’t think he’s a filler. has idolsona on lock though! good for him i suppose. “think he’s snoopy. he’s not” is my favorite description of him
- marklee : well. he is mark lee. i can’t dislike him. very endearing. and THAT is his idolsona. his proximity to haechan makes him hard to dislike too ngl like i’d just be miserable so i am team mark lee.
- haechan : MY PERFECT IDOLLL. sorry that he has everything. do not want to use the word “ace” because wow sunflowers run that shit to the ground. but truly all rounder idol in MY eyes and an underrated fansign darling <3 doesn’t get requests to meow and bark but has done very pudu like things i suppose and bear ears. which sfs have convinced themselves is better than asking ur idol to bark but like if i had money to burn maybe i WOULD make my bias bark. HIS IDOLSONA IS GREAT he is here to STAY! he just needs friends outside of dream and also get on instagram. but we still have years to go <3

- you must be delusional if you think nomin is musically gifted. they are here to be fansign boyfriends and sexy performers on stage. i had to put this in bc i saw a jaem fan say they can’t wait for producers to contact jaemin for a collab. PRODUCERS? perhaps you mean casting directors. okay maybe jeno does like music more than jaemin but still. they are visual idols. im in love with jaemin’s face
- chenle doesn’t even feel like he’s attached to being an idol. he’s good at being an idol but maybe even more perfect just being like. a celebrity. truly feeling like he’d only renew contracts purely cause of dream. also he wants a gf (mark) so bad. i’m so convinced he’s gonna be the first one to date. does he even have gf fans that would drop him because of that?
- jisung (WHO HAPPENS TO BE MY 2ND BIAS IN THE SAME PODIUM AS TAEYONG) is also my baby. he’s got this shit on lock guys. i mean he kind of has to he gave up his whole childhood for this. his first lifeisms is there because he is a good idol. he’s watched and learned a lot and i feel like he knows not to do stuff. also insane fansign boyfriend. like his noona fans? over the roof it’s crazy. now i know jisung fans hate when being a maknae is painted out as part of his personality but it LITERALLY IS IN HIS DNA sorry you can’t separate it. like not in the way u can separate haechan & his maknae role. jisung is THE maknae. even when he’s gonna be a hyung. it’s not even a bad thing
- have nothing to say abt renjun. personally the two toned hair did everything to me i had renjun illness for a week. would maybe leave sm for w successful career in china but like he likes kpop so much. and dream emotional manipulation
